Islamabad: The tussle between the prime minister of Azad Kashmir (AJK) and Minister for Kashmir Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira has reached the presidency and an in-house change in the AJK Assembly is imminent, The News has learnt. Sources said that AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan had sought the removal of the federal minister from President Zardari in a meeting while the federal minister had gathered evidence of corruption against the AJK PM and presented it to the president. The opposition parties are also planning to make an in-house change in the AJK Assembly by moving a no-confidence motion against Sardar Attique. Former prime minister Sardar Sikinder Hayat has also confirmed that 17 dissenters of the ruling Muslim Conference along with the opposition parties would make 33 in a house of 49. However, the spokesman for the AJK PM said that upheavals in any party or government could not remain hidden. Explaining the working relationship with Kaira, the spokesman said the AJK government had no problem with the minister. He said Kaira had issued two contradictory statements one while addressing the workers convention and the other while talking to the media. Addressing the workers convention, the minister spoke against the AJK government while he spoke high of working relationship with the Attique government in a chat with the media, said the spokesman. He said that neither the AJK PM had asked President Zardari to change the federal minister nor any federal minister was appointed with the consent of the AJK government.Sardar Sikender said that the dissenters of the ruling Muslim Conference had been meeting him for last two months and had been requesting him to lead them in a no-confidence motion against the AJK PM. I have asked all the 17 members to gather at one place to devise a strategy. On November 16, they would gather at my residence, he said, adding: The ruling party has been involved in financial corruption and a white paper was also issued against them which was not answered by Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan. The sources said that the names of Speaker AJK Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, Raja Nisar Ahmad Khan and Raja Farooq Haider were being mentioned for the slot of PM.It is pertinent to mention here that the chief election commissioner (CEC) AJK has also been changed recently which was widely hailed by the opposition parties.
