Grand reception awaits PoK trade delegation in Jammu

JAMMU: A grand reception awaits the trade delegation from Pak occupied Kashmir in the winter capital city here on Sunday where members of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muzaffrabad (PoK) and Jammu will discuss the trade modalities during their visit here ahead of proposed opening of trade routes across LoC on October 21. The 19- member delegation led by president Chamber of Commerce and Industry from PoK capital Muzaffrabad, Zulfikar Abbasi, will be arriving at Jammu airport here from Srinagar at around 3.30 pm on Sunday. Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu team led by its president Ram Sahai and members of other trade and industries bodies will accord grand reception to the business community members from PoK at the local civil airport. The purpose of the delegation to have interaction with the traders, businessmen and industrialists and to also have an assessment of the possible business activities and dealings besides discussing modalities before commencing cross LoC trade. The more important component of this new trade ties between two sides would be ‘duty free’ trade on both the sides and this activity is expected to strengthen the relationship of the people on both the sides. President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu, Mr Sahai disclosed to the reporters here that after according reception at Jammu airport by FoI and CCI, the delegation will be taken to KC Residency where both the bodies will be organising function at 4.30 pm regarding presentation of industrial scenario in Jammu province. It will be followed by a high tea arranged by Muslim Federation of Jammu at 5.30. The delegation will be taken to Raghunath Bazar, Art Emporium and other main markets of the city. The dinner for the visiting delegation on Oct 12 will be hosted by Vice Chancellor of Jammu University Prof Amitabh Mattoo. On October 13 (Monday), the delegation will have breakfast meeting with CCI Jammu members at Chamber Bhawan Rail Head complex from 9.30 to 10.30 am. An exhibition of local industrial products will be organised at 11 am onwards for the visiting delegation at Hotel Ritz Manor, Bye Pass Road. The lunch for the visitors has been organised by the Jammu Pharmaceutical Distributors Association at KC Residency at 2 pm. On Monday evening (4 to 5 PM), the delegation will be visiting Suchetgarh-Sialkot border point (Octroi) and also visit some Rice mills at R S Pura. The dinner at 8 pm on Monday will be hosted by Governor’s Advisor, H H Tyabji at Govt Guest House, Canal Road. The Federation of Industries has arranged visit of the delegation to some industries at Vijaypur-Samba besides Industrial Estate on Tuesday morning immediately after breakfast. Meet the press programme followed by Lunch has been organised at Press Club of Jammu at 1 pm on October 13. The delegation would pay visit to Mubarak Mandi, Amar Mahal and Kala Kendra in the afternoon. SOS International, an organisation of PoK refugees has arranged high tea at 5.30 pm on Tuesday at Amar Singh Club. In the same evening, J&K Tourism department has organised an impressive cultural programme at Bagh-e-Bahu in the honour of PoK visitors at 7.30 pm, followed by dinner hosted by Federation of Industries. On Wednesday morning ( Oct 15), the delegation after breakfast meeting with members of Association of Travel Agents will leave for Srinagar at 11.30 am. They will cross over to Pok from Uri on October 16. Mr Sahai further disclosed that Jammu trade delegation comprising of 40-45 members will be visiting PoK in the first week of November. He said both the sides have approved 21 tradeable items so far and the list will be reviewed after three months. He demanded that Jammu-Sialkot, Akhnoor-Chhamb and Nowshera- Mirpur routes should also be opened in the larger interest of the trading communities of Jammu and that side.
