Pune: 'The government is seized of the matter' was the reaction of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Tuesday to the current volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir, triggered by the Amarnath Shrine land row. When approach by mediapersons on the sidelines of a function here, Patil refrained from making any further comments except the situation was being deliberated to bring normalcy in the state, where Jammu region has seen days of violent protests, leaving at least half a dozen people dead. The protestors are demanding restoration of forest land earlier alloted to the Amarnath Shrine Board. The land allotment was later cancelled by the state government. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has convened an all-party meeting tomorrow to discuss the flare-up in the border state and find ways to establish peace. Earlier, the Minister, who addressed the silver jubilee celebration of Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) here, advised educationists to inculcate spiritual values such as non-violence to help contain the menace of terrorism.
