Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while addressing the gathering said, “Pro-India politicians are killers and traders of the martyrs blood. They should seek public apology.” Pro-India politicians have ditched people of Kashmir time and again. “National Conference helped India in 1996 when nobody in Kashmir was ready to compromise,” said Mirwaiz. NC, PDP, Congress and other parties are deceiving people of Kashmir and exploiting them emotionally by paying tributes to the martyrs here. “Kashmiris can no more be deceived by showing Pakistani salt or green handkerchief. They are mature enough to know who their enemy is,” he said. Mirwaiz said that Kashmir is not an administrative or developmental issue. “It is a political issue which cannot be solved by economic packages, employment or railways,” he said. “Recent protests have made it clear that people are not going to compromise on freedom.” From this unified stage of Hurriyat we pay tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause. “On this pious occasion we take pledge that we will take the Kashmir cause to its logical end,” Mirwaiz said. Referring to Kashmiris languishing in different jails, Mirwaiz said, “India should transfer their cases to Kashmir and our advocates will plead their cases here.” Mirwaiz said that when we talk of Jammu and Kashmir it includes Jammu, Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, Ladakh and northern areas, the position of the state as it existed on August 14, 1947. Terming any election process as futile, Mirwaiz said, “Elections are no solution. We will settle for nothing short of right to self determination.” Referring to his Pakistan visit, Mirwaiz said, “People of Pakistan are with us. We have support of people who matter in Pakistan.” Mirwaiz condemned the police action against locals here earlier today. On the issue of mass graves discovered recently in north Kashmir’s Uri area, Mirwaiz said, “Ten thousand Kashmiris have disappeared since 1989 and the presence of around 940 mass graves in just one army camp has shocked us. There are 300 such army camps here. We appeal the Amnesty International and Asia Watch to come here and see what is happening in the name of democracy.” Processions Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq reached Martyrs graveyard in separate processions this afternoon. Hundreds of people marched with both the leaders in several parts of old city raising slogans in favour of Islam, freedom, Pakistan and against India and pro-India leaders and parties. Syed Ali Geelani marched from Habba Kadal, Pather Masjid, Rajouri Kadal, Nowhatta to Martyrs Graveyard Khawaja Bazaar. People were carrying green flags and raising slogans in rhythm and rhyme. Mirwaiz started from Jamia Masjid and marched through Malaratta, Bohri Kadal, Baba Demb and Khanyar. When both the processions met near the Martyrs Graveyard, people raised slogans in favor of Islam, unity, freedom, militants and pro- freedom leaders. Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, General Moosa, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Sheikh Aziz, Zafar Akbar Bhat and other leaders from both the factions were also present.
