Nawaz Asks India To Resolve Kashmir Issue

Lahore: Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal called on PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at his residence in Raiwind here on Monday. They exchanged views on the current situation of the region and country. The meeting which continued for an hour, both the dignitaries deliberated on the issue of emerging importance of South Asian region, Kashmir issue and political situation of Pakistan. During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif pressed upon the Indian High Commissioner that India should resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the desire of people of Kashmir for peace and tranquillity in the region. On the occasion, Media Coordinator Muhammad Mehdi was present. Meanwhile Ambassador of Sweden N. Karren met PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif at his residence and reflected on the post-election scenario. Later on both the Sharif brothers held joint meeting with the entire staff and paid them the rich tributes for their meritorious services. On the occasion, Senator Ishaq Dar, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa, Ahsan Iqbal, Publicity and Media Cell staffers Pervez Rashid, Khawaja Amir Raza, Dr. Asif Kirmani, Relief Wing staffers Pervaiz Malik, Arshad Khan, Legal and Anti-Rigging Wing staffer Akram Sheikh and others were present. Meanwhile, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has said that ‘we will have to work 25 hours to resolve mountain-sized problems, saying though it looks impossible but we have the will to turn the impossible into possible with determination, devotion and sincerity’. He said that people brought a ballot box revolution through the power of their votes on February 18th and PML-N would lead it to its practical end. He expressed these views while addressing the welcome meeting organised in the honour of those independent MPAs-elect who recently joined PML-N at a local hotel here on Monday. The meeting was hosted by senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafiq and presided over by Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa. PML-N senior leaders and central Information Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Zaeem Qadri, Khawaja Hassan, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Amir Raja and Khawaja Imran Nazeer others party’s newly-elected member of Provincial Assembly were present on the occasion. Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N parliamentary leader in Punjab, said that ‘we know that there were ocean of problems and we have to face innumerable hardships to live up to the expectations of the people’, but we have a firm belief that when a work is started with selflessness and honesty aiming to serve the people, miracle takes place, he added. He said that PML-N was committed to take decision with the consultation and consensus believing that it was the way to make sustainable progress. He said that the independent MPAs-elect who joined PML-N unconditionally would be treated like its own leaders and they would be taken into confidence in all decision-making process. ‘They are not independents instead they are our part and parcel’, he said. He vowed that party would not get involved into politics of vendetta as was done by ‘Q’ league in past. He said that PML-N had removed the words of political victimisation and character assassination from its dictionary to unleash the chapter of friendship and love. He pledged that ‘our energies and potential would be invested to heal the wounds of the people, they received during 8 years’ govt of PML-Q. Showing surprise, he said that PML-Q Punjab budget volume increased to Rs 150 billion with showing dreams of educated Punjab, Prosperous Punjab, Healthy Punjab but people are exhausted to see these dreams getting materialised. He said that if the money was spent on the public welfare projects instead of their publicity, situation would be different. He said that during PML-N regime, Punjab budget volume standing at Rs. 8 billion was spent to uplift the standard of their lives. He promised that this time people would see the more results beyond their expectations. He said that PML-N was going to host joint meeting of PML-N, PML-functional, JUP to map out future strategy in the quest of basic common grounds to shape up the coalition govt. He said that PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had decided to form govt in Centre and Punjab. He paid tribute to the independent candidates who joined PML-N, saying they joined the party without bargain which showed the level of their political maturity. Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa also spoke on the occasion.
