34 More Families Rescued In Kashmir

Srinagar: A day after police rescued 200 families, 34 more families were rescued from the worst snow-hit area in North Kashmir. A police officer of North Kashmir said that police today rescued 34 families caught in snow at Dadra Bagidara village in North Kashmir. 'The families comprising 104 members were stuck due to recent heavy snow fall,' he said. The police officer stated that the affected families were moved to the safer places. It is pertinent to mention here that North Kashmir experienced heavy snowfall, with the upper reaches receiving 12 to 17 feet of snow. Police on Tuesday had rescued 200 persons from Dara Kunj village in North Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention here that the avalanche threat continues to loom in upper reaches of North and South Kashmir, which witnessed heavy snowfall. The authorities are trying to evacuate inhabitants from the upper reaches. Fayaz Wani reports on life in Srinagar, Kashmir.
