MIRPUR: The 24th martyrdom anniversary of renowned leader of Kashmiri freedom movement Muhammad Maqbool Butt will be observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as in held Kashmir on Monday, Feb 11 with the pledge to continue the mission of their leader till the Kashmiri people are granted their legitimate right of self- determination. Processions will be taken out and rallies will be held in all small and major towns at both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) to pay tributes to Shaheed Maqbool Butt, who was sent to the gallows by India on this day in New Delhi's Tihar Jail in 1984 for demanding the right to self- determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir state. Jammu Kashmir National Liberation Front has organised the programmes in this connection. In the held Jammu and Kashmir, complete strike and rallies, seminars, conferences and processions will be the hallmark of the martyrdom day of one of the pioneer leaders of the Kashmiri freedom struggle, said Central Vice President of the JKNLF Muhammad Ramzan Dutt, Advocate. 'Besides, memorandums containing Kashmiris longstanding persistent demand of the early resolution of the Kashmir issue under UN resolutions will be handed over to the UN observer missions in occupied Kashmir and Azad Jammu Kashmir,' Dutt told APP here on Sunday.
