The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only link road connecting Kashmir with the outside world remained closed for the 5th day in succession. No vehicle was allowed on the 296 km long highway by the authorities. At least 1100 vehicles and more than 2000 people are stranded at different places on the highway. Air traffic also remained affected. Only one commercial flight and the private helicopter of Kashmir's chief minister managed to land in Srinagar airport today. For the third day in succession, Kashmir continued to witness snowfall. The continuous snowfall has led to shortage of water in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir. Electricity poles and wires have also been damaged and scores of areas in Kashmir are cloaked in total darkness.
