Kashmir Solution Imperative, Says Musharraf

Islamabad: President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday said that Pakistan would not back off from its principal stance on Kashmir. Kashmir solution is imperative, President Pervez Musharraf expressed these views while talking to AJK President Raja Zulqurnain Khan on Tuesday in Presidential Camp Office. The meeting lasted for quite a while in which host of issues were discussed with special focus on peaceful and durable solution to Kashmir issue. President AJK discussed with the President, various developments taking place in the Azad Kashmir and also the rehabilitation and reconstruction activities gong on in the wake of October 8, earthquake. He also thanked the Government and the people of Pakistan for their role in rehabilitation and reconstruction activities. The President AJK also appreciated the stance of the Government of Pakistan and especially of President Pervez Musharraf regarding the Indian Held Kashmir. During the meeting, President Musharraf assured the AJK President that Federal Government and ERRA will keep on assisting the down-trodden affectees stressing optimum facilities will be provided to the quake affectees. Regarding Kashmir solution, President Musharraf was of the view that it is need of hour for positive and fruitful talks because without it, durable solution to the Kashmir dispute is not possible. He said that both the countries have had quite a number of dialogue process adding that no solution is possible without the aspirations of people of Kashmir. India should also show some flexibility, as one-way flexibility cannot resolve the thorny issue, he added.
