Transistor bomb defused in Poonch

Excelsior Correspondent POONCH: Police and security personnel detected and defused a transistor bomb in Sheesh Mahal Mohalla of Ward No. 14 in the town here this morning. A patrolling party of police found an unclaimed transistor lying outside the house of Thakur Lal Singh in Sheesh Mahal Mohalla at 11.35 am, reports said. Suspecting some foul play, police and security forces cordoned off the area. SSP Poonch Jagjit Kumar also rushed to the spot. A Bomb Disposal Squad of police and security forces defused the explosive device, believed to have been planted by suspected militants in the area with the object of causing casualties, reports said. A search operation was launched in the area by police and para-military personnel but no arrest could be made. Police said the bomb might have been planted by the militants with a view to create panic among the people as Poonch Assembly segment goes to bypoll on December 12.
