Stay Away From Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations:Dukhtaran-e-Millat

Srinagar: Radical women's organisation in Jammu and Kashmir 'Dukhtaran-e- Millat' today asked people to stay away from functions organised by the state government in connection with Gandhi Jayanti. 'We appeal people to stay away from functions being organised by the government in connection with Gandhi Jayanti,' its chief Syeda Asia Indrabi told reporters here. Introduced by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, over 50,000 students participated in different tiers of the debate on Gandhian Philosophy and its relevance in the 21st century. The competition started on September one. The divisional level round concluded on September 22 while the concluding round is scheduled for tomorrow, the birthday of the Father of the Nation, which would be telecast live by Doordarshan from Srinagar. The debate is being held simultaneously for school and college students with prize money of Rs one lakh as first prize, Rs 50,000 second prize and two third prizes of Rs 25,000.
