3 Soldiers Injured, War-like Stores Recovered

Srinagar: Three soldiers were injured while security forces recovered war-like stores, including RDX, in Kashmir valley. An official spokesman said that three Army personnel were injured in a grenade attack by militants on their picket in Kupwara district. Militants hurled a hand grenade towards a picket manned by Rashtriya Rifles men near General Bus Stand in Kupwara District Headquarters, the spokesman said, adding three jawans were injured in the explosion and were hospitalised. The grenade landed inside the picket and exploded with a big bang causing panic in the area crowded with people. Troops exercised utmost restrain and did not open fire to avoid civilian casualities. Meanwhile, troops busted an underground hideout and recovered war-like stores, the spokesman said. He said troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and Special Operation Group of State Police, launched a joint operation at Durhom in North Kashmir district of Baramula following a tip off about a militant hideout. After a long search for several hours, troops finally unearthed a hideout constructed underground. The arms and ammunition recovered from the hideout included, 20 UBGL grenade, three mortar bombs, one RPG grenades and other warlike stores. However no one was arrested.
