It would also conduct a parallel exercise to review the application of the Armed Forces (Jammu & Kashmir) Special Powers Act 1990 to different areas of the State. Mr Jaiswal said the review would be carried out in confirmity with the legal requirements of a periodic review of the application of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. The Minister said the Report of the Committee has yet to be submitted to the Government. Mr Jaiswal said there have been demands and from time to time seeking reduction in the level of security force deployment in the State in view of the overall improvement in the security environment. 'The approach of the Government is to ensure that the deployment of security forces is related to the scale of problems and requirements on the ground', he said.
