Militants Make Abortive Bid To Target BSF Vehicle
10 August 2007
Srinagar: Militants today made an abortive attempt to target a Border Security Force vehicle with a grenade in Bandipora district. Ultras hurled a grenade towards an armoured vehicle of BSF at Bandipora main market, 55 kms from here, but the device fell short of the intended target and exploded on the roadside, official sources said. No one was injured in the explosion which caused panic in the district headquarters as people ran helter skelter, the sources said. BSF immediately cordoned off the area and carried out a search operation to nab the militants involved in the attack. However, residents of the area later staged a demonstration outside the police station to protest alleged roughing up of several persons by security personnel after the grenade attack.
