Kashmir Martyrs' Day On Friday

Islamabad: The 76th Kashmir Martyrs Day to be observed on July 13 (Friday) by the Kashmiris across the Line of Control (LoC) and all over the world.Seminars, conferences and symposiums would be held in all district headquarters of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to highlight the importance of the day and pay rich tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs particularly those who laid down their lives while fighting the Dogra rule in 1931. As many as 21 Kashmiris sacrificed their lives for the supreme cause of freedom for Kashmir from the foreign occupation on this particular day. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Kashmir Chapter has arranged programmes in Muzaffarabad to commemorate the martyrs day, pay them tributes and reiterate the pledge to continue the struggle till the goal of liberation was achieved. The Azad Kashmir government has also arranged programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. The government has also announced to observe Kashmir's accession to Pakistan week from July 13 to July 19. Prime Minister AJK has issued directives for holding special meetings including seminars and symposiums in all district headquarters of AJK to highlight the importance of the historic days of 13 and 19 July. In a statement issued here on Thursday, former AJK Prime Minister, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan described the July 13 as milestone in the history of Kashmiris struggle against foreign occupations. He said this was the first firm reaction of Kashmiris against the Dogra rule adding that the struggle which was started by the Martyrs of July 13 was nearing to its destination. The Mutahida Jehad Council, in a statement, paid rich tributes to the July 13 martyrs and reiterated the resolve to continue the liberation struggle till the goal of freedom from Indian bondage was achieved.
