PM's Jammu Visit On July 15

Jammu: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Jammu has been rescheduled on July 15. Earlier, it was slated for today but postponed in view of the National mourning following the death of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar. Singh was to be conferred an Honorary D.Lit degree by the University of Jammu (JU) today but now he will receive it five days later. He is also scheduled to lay foundation for Kashmiri migrants' quarters at Jagti, Nagrota. Confirming this report, Registrar JU said University has received a communiqué in this regard from New Delhi. Accordingly, the preparations have been started afresh to gear up for mega event on July 15. The Vice Chancellor will chair a meet tomorrow to review the arrangements once again and the full dress rehearsal is to be made on July 13, he added. Meanwhile, security agencies have been once again pressed into services. According to sources, a team of Special Protection Group (SPG) accompanied by National Security Group (NSG) commandos will arrive here soon.
