Civilian Beheaded, Teacher Held

Jammu: Militants beheaded a civilian, second during last three days, at Nowkoot, Dulligam in Banihal area of Ramban district today. Identified as Shabir Ahmed Koli son of Ismayil Koli, a resident of Nowkoot, the sicilian was kidnapped by the militants from his house last night and beheaded in surrounding area of Thandi Sha. Headless body of the civilian was recovered by local people and police this morning and handed over to his family after post-mortem. Only a day before, another civilian Mohd Ismayil Gujjar was killed by the militants in Banihal. Doda police busted a hide-out of the militants at Dhar Chak in Gandoh and recovered two IEDs, each weighing 12 kg, one pistol magazine, six kg pulses, five kg rice, four biscuit packs, three cigarette packets, three shawls and incriminating documents. Search operation in the area was going on, sources said. Troops launched a search operation at village Khaur in Mahore area of Reasi district this morning. After a brief encounter, two militants escaped from a house where they had taken shelter while a suspect, responsible for giving shelter to militants was apprehended. He has been identified as Nazir Ali, 38, son of Ghulam Ali R-o Khaur. He was a Government teacher but was reported to have his affiliation with Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. Troops handed him over to Mahore police station for questioning.
