Lashkar recruit surrenders

Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) recruit today surrendered before Army in Thathri while an Over Ground Worker (OGW) was arrested by police in Doda district. Official sources said troops, during a search operation in Janer forest area of Thathri in Doda district, intercepted a Lashkar fresh recruit Mohd Razak, 18, son of Mohd Sain R-o Masrunda. The recruit surrendered to Army along with one grenade, two magazines, 53 rounds and other war like stores. Police apprehended an OGW of militants, Farooq Ahmed Waza from Abu Baker Mohalla in Kishtwar district. He has been working for ultras of the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), they said. He was taken into custody on the disclosures made by a HM militant Nafiz Manwar Ahangar alias Irfan, who was recently apprehended from Kishtwar area. During questioning, Waza disclosed that he used to provide food, shelter and logistic support to the militants of his outfit in carrying out subversive activities in Kishtwar town, sources said. Troops recovered one 7.62mm Chinese pistol, one revolver, 40 UBGL grenades, one UBGL and 17 Chinese hand grenades during a search operation at Sahuwala forests in Kalai area of Doda.
