Islamabad: Deputy Secretary-General of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and Naib Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Liaqat Baloch on Saturday said different formulae put forth by General Pervez Musharraf to resolve the Kashmir issue have done incalculable harm to the Kashmir cause and disappointed the people on both sides. Kashmir has always been the issue of life and death for Pakistan but now a small, Indian lobby is running this country and dictating the generals, he said while addressing JI workers at Mansurah on Saturday. Liaqat Baloch said the Pakistani generals had been unable to make the world realize the difference between terrorism and freedom struggle. On the other hand our rulers had divided the Kashmiri leadership, and weakened Pakistans position. He said that the valiant Kashmiris were continuing their freedom movement despite the brutalities carried on by the 0.7 million Indian troops in held Kashmir. He declared that the only acceptable solution of the Kashmir issue was in the light of the UN resolutions and according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. All options announced by General Pervez Musharraf to resolve the issue to the contrary have only brought humiliation to Pakistan. Liaqat Baloch said the policies of the military dictator were based on retreat and cowardice. Different extra constitutional steps taken by the Musharraf Government have destroyed the national institutions, the latest being the judiciary. Therefore, it was high time to get rid of him at the earliest, he added.
