Jawan killed, 2 hurt in blast

Jammu: An Army jawan was killed and two others were injured when militants lobbed a grenade on a patrol party of 11 Rashtriya Rifles at Khajgam near Mughal Maidan in Chatroo area of Doda district last night while a civilian, kidnapped by the ultras from his house at Koti Nullah on February 17 night, was killed in captivity. Official sources said three Army jawansóRajesh Singh, Amar Singh and Roshan Lalówere injured in a grenade attack by the militants at Khajgam at 9 pm yesterday. The grenade was lobbed by the ultras from a hill when troops were on a routine patrolling in the area. One of the injured jawan, Rajesh Singh succumbed to his wounds while two other injured were referred to Command Hospital, Udhampur for further treatment. Immediately after the grenade attack, troops cordoned off the area and apprehended a suspect Shabir Ahmed, 18, son of Abdul Rashid R-o Kuchhal. He was reportedly present at the site when the militants lobbed the grenade. He has been handed over to police for questioning. A civilian Mohd Ramzan son of Nassar Ullah, a resident of Shalla Koti in Doda, who was kidnapped by the militants on February 17 night, was killed in captivity, His body was recovered from Koti Nullah today. Police have handed over the body to Ramzanís family after post-mortem.
