JKLF rejects Musharraf's formula
29 January 2007
Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has said that it has decided not to lend support to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's four- point formula and that the right to decide their future lay with Kashmiris. JKLF supreme head Amanullah Khan said 'our stand towards the solution of the Kashmir issue is based on democratic principle, rationale and logic. And, therefore, General Musharraf's four-point formula has not come up for discussion. As such, there was no question of declaring full support to it. We have basic objections to the formula. JKLF did not at all approve of the formula as it neither makes any mention of people of Jammu and Kashmir nor of reunification of the divided Jammu Kashmir State to decide their future.' Regarding reports in a section of the Press, Mr. Khan said Gen. Musharraf's formula 'has never been discussed by us, yet a section of the media reported that we agreed with and fully support it and wanted it accepted by Kashmiris.' Mr. Khan reiterated JKLF's resolve to fight all proposals to solve the Kashmir issue that were not based on the unfettered and freely expressed will of the people, including Gilgit-Baltistan. On the recent meeting of the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir leadership with the All-Parties Hurriyat Conference, he said that there was no mention in the meeting of Gen. Musharraf's formula, yet a section of the media reported that the conference agreed with and fully support it and wanted it accepted by all Kashmiris.
