PDP leader escapes bid on life

Srinagar: A Hizb-ul Mujahideen militant and a woman were killed in separate incidents on Sunday, while a People's Democratic Party councillor escaped an attempt on his life in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said. The body of the Hizb militant Zahoor Ahmad Shah was recovered by the police from Nela Najwan area of Kangan, 40 kms from here. Shah, a resident of Baba-Wuyal village, was an active militant and was killed under mysterious circumstances. The police are investigating the case. The police recovered the body of a young woman, identified as Khalida Akhter, from Buddan village in Baramulla district . Akhter, a resident of Sheeri, was abducted shortly after midnight on Saturday and later killed.
