4 militantsí bodies recovered in Kulgam

Srinagar: Dead bodies of four local militants of Hizbul Mujahideen were recovered from the destroyed house of Ghulam Ahmed Dar S-o Salam Dar at Augam in Kulgam today. As exclusively reported in this newspaper today, four Hizb militants had been trapped by Police and security forces last evening and three of them had died late last night. SP Kulgam said that all the four militants belonged to Fayaz Naikoo group of Hizbul Mujahideen. The killed militants were identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Lone Muzamil, Mudasir Ahmed Dar, Rayees Ahmad Dar and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat. Four AK 47 rifles, 4 UBGL, 21 AK magazines, 212 rounds, one damaged mobile set and four pouches were also recovered from the site of encounter. Reports from Shopian said that Police today recovered the beheaded body of a released militant, namely Fayaz Ahmed Hajam S-o Mohammad Yusuf Hajam of Kursoo, Rajbagh (Srinagar) from Nayidgam. He had been reportedly kidnapped by suspected militants from Srinagar and later beheaded in Shopian area. He had been working as a mechanic after his release from jail. Security forces unearthed a hideout and recovered war-like stores in the Central Kashmir district of Badgam, a police spokesman said. He said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation at village Surasyar in Badgam district yesterday after receiving a tip off that militants had dumped arms and ammunition there. After a long search in the forest area, they were finally able to unearth the hideout in the woods. The arms and ammunition recovered included about two of high quality explosive, 15500 rounds of ammunition, two electric detonators, three Remote Control Devices (RCD), three wireless sets. However, no one was arrested as militants managed to escape.
