Lashkar Militant Nabbed

Srinagar: Militants exchanged fire with security forces, while a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was arrested and two hand grenades were recovered from a passenger bus in Kashmir, official sources said. Militants opened fire at a patrol party of security forces at Mathund in Kokernag area of Anantnag district in the wee hours today. No one was hurt in the gunfight. The gunbattle lasted for nearly half an hour, they said adding a hunt has been launched to nab the ultras who fled into the nearby forest area. Security forces arrested LeT militant Zahoor Ahmad at Daggerpora village in Kupwara district last night and a hand grenade, an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher shell, one kg explosive, a detonator and ten rounds of AK ammunition were recovered from him, the sources said. A police party, during checking of vehicles, recovered two hand grenades from the roof of a passenger bus at Pulwama district town in south Kashmir today. The bus was coming from Pakherpora village to Pulwama bus stand when it was stopped by the police checking party, the sources said adding the grenades were concealed by militants inside a bag containing charcoal. The driver and conductor of the vehicle were taken into custody for questioning, the sources said. During a checking of a bus, which was on way to Srinagar from Sopore last evening, Police apprehended a suspect at Parimpora on the city outskirts and seized one hand grenade from his possession.
