J&K Awami Tehreek floated

Srinagar: A new political outfit with the name and style of Jammu and Kashmir Awami Tehreek, has been floated and Mohd Altaf Dar is its president. Announcing launch of the party in presence of its active members, S K Ambardar, chief spokesperson of the Tehreek threw light on the policies and programmes of the newly floated outfit. 'Our party will strive for unification of Jammu and Kashmir on both sides of the border, restoration of pre-1953 status and constitution of three autonomous councils for Jammu, Kashmir and Laddakh,' said Mohd Altaf Dar while talking to the Excelsior on the occasion. He said that the party members will also visit Pak occupied Kashmir and meet people there to seek their support for re-unification of the State. The Tehreek leader favoured direct dialogue with the militants and stressed that all shades of opinion should be involved in the talks for solution to vexed Kashmir issue. On the occasion Mr Ambardar also announced office bearers and executive members of the J&K Awami Tehreek. A R Wani and H S Thakur are vice-president while Shal Ali Mohd is the general secretary. S K Ambardar and Vijay Chicken Koul have been appointed as chief spokesman and chief organiser while Bashir Ahmed Dar, Karan Choudhary, Jagdish Chander and Ghulam Mohd Rather have been given the post of secretary. Farooq Ahmed Bhat, Ravinder Rai, Sham Gupta and Mohd Iqbal Ladakhi are the joint secretary in new outfit while Ghulam Mohd Bhat and Vijay Malla have been given the responsibilities of treasurer and publicity secretary, respectively.
