New Delhi: Continuing consultations with a cross-section of leaders ahead of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjees visit to Islamabad, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh met former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here on Wednesday. Mufti told reporters after his meeting that he had urged the prime minister to take bold steps towards a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. At the hour-long meeting, he also stressed strengthening dialogue between India and Pakistan as well as between Delhi and Srinagar. Kashmiri leaders, with the sole exception of Syed Ali Geelani, have demanded an immediate response to Pakistani President Gen Pervez Musharrafs proposals of demilitarisation and joint management. The time has come to work through peaceful means and public participation towards the resolution of the (Kashmir) problem and restoration of permanent peace, Mufti said.
