Indian FM talks to Kashmiris

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee met leaders of Kashmirs Peoples Democratic Party here on Sunday as part of his consolations with national and Kashmiri leaders. The foreign minister earlier met J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad and BJP and left leaders about his upcoming visit to Islamabad. A PDP spokesman here said that party leaders Mufti Sayeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti told Mukherjee that India must carry forward the peace process and confidence-building measures with Pakistan. The PDP leaders asked Mukherjee to initiate discussions with Pakistan on setting up of a joint institutional mechanism in the areas of tourism, water resources, environment, culture and disaster management in both parts of Jammu and Kashmir. They told the minister to raise the issue of opening up the LoC for religious tourism.
