Two ultras killed in Banihal

Srinagar: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were gunned down by Army and police in an encounter at Dulligam in Banihal tehsil this morning. DIG Udhampur-Doda range Lalat Indu Mohanty said Army and police cordoned off village Fagu near Dulligam this morning after developing an information that two militants had come down to plains from upper reaches after snowfall. The militants were trapped in a dhok and killed after two hour long gunbattle, he added. One of the slain militant has been identified as Alafdin, 26, son of Laldin R-o Jabdi, Banihal. Identity of his associate hasn't been established so far. Recoveries made from the scene of encounter include one AK-47 rifle, one AK-56 rifle, their four magazines and 96 rounds. Security forces didn't suffer any casualties in the operation.
