Militant killed, two soldiers wounded in Kashmir

Srinagar: A militant was killed by the security forces while two Indian soldiers were seriously wounded in a powerful explosion in north Kashmir Tuesday.Police said security forces gunned down the guerrilla in an exchange of fire in Rangwar village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.'During a search operation the security forces came under fire from hiding militants. The fire was returned and during the exchange of fire one militant was killed,' a police spokesman here said.'Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site which included one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, two hand grenades and one wireless set,' he added.In a separate incident, guerrillas hurled a grenade at a passing army convoy at Chandiloora village near Tangmarg, 35 km from here, in north Kashmir.'Two army soldiers were wounded in the explosion. They were evacuated to hospital for treatment. The area was later searched by the security forces,' the spokesman told IANS. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
