Jammu: In one of the largest hauls of explosives in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces seized 250 kgs of RDX from a militant hideout on Saturday. Police raided Sumbar area, about 20 km from the Jammu- Srinagar highway, and recovered 250 kgs of RDX explosives, besides 61 detonators and a remote control device, said Senior Superintendent of P Basant Kumar Rath. The police launched the search operation following a tip off about the presence of militants, he said. 'We reached there slightly late, otherwise we could have caught the militants as well.' The officer said that the hideout belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen and an expert of the group was to make improvised explosive devices with the RDX. He said the explosives could have been used to trigger blasts on the highway that connects the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India.
