Two ultras surrender in Doda

Srinagar: Two militants of Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI) outfit today surrendered before Doda police and Rashtriya Rifles at Chatru. They have been identified as Ghulam Mohd son of Mohd Ramzan and Mohd Iqbal son of Ghulam Ahmed, both residents of Kwath, Chatroo. SSP Doda Manohar Singh said both militant were active since August this year. He said a highest number of 87 militants had surrendered in Doda in 1996 when a large group of Al Jehad militants had joined mainstream. Second highest number of surrendered militants was 34 each in 1998 and 1999. With today's surrenders, a total of 37 militants have surrendered in Doda this year with two months to spare. More surrenders were in pipeline, the SSP Doda said.
