Protest in AJK on October 9

Rawalkot: Earthquake survivors in the AJK will observe a strike on October 9 against the poor performance of the government regarding rehabilitation of the victims and providing them shelters. Sardar Adil Khan, central president of the Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF), said that after the passage of one year the grievances of quake victims are yet to be addressed. He said that last years earthquake had literally crippled the economy of the region and afflicted massive losses of life and property to the people of the region. It also exposed the Kashmiri and Pakistani rulers. He said so far, the affected people had not been compensated while another winter had already come round the corner. He said a charter of demand would also be presented to the government on that day. He also demanded that the government accelerate the compensation process to enable the victims to build their houses before December.
