Jammu: A special police officer (SPO) helped militants attack a remote post in the mountainous Doda district at 1:30 a.m. in Jammu and Kashmir Saturday in which two policemen were killed and over half a dozen weapons looted.According to a police official, militants attacked the post at Chinyas, a remote mountainous village in Doda district about 210 km northeast of Jammu. 'The SPO who helped the militants in the attack has deserted,' he said. The police post was in the house of a surrendered militant. The official said the regular staff at the post had gone out on an operation and only those two killed special police officers (SPO) were there along with the deserter during the attack. The SPOs were ad hoc employees assisting the regular police personnel at the post.A senior police officer, however, said the number of weapons the militants took away with them was not clear 'as physical verification has to be done'. But there was a minimum of eight including Aks and SLRs, he added. The police had sought the help of the army to conduct combing operations in the area to nab the militants. 'Most important for us is the recovery of weapons,' the official said.
