2 militants killed in Rafiabad gunbattle

Srinagar: Police and security forces have killed two Pakistani militants of Al- Badar Mujahideen outfit in an encounter in Rafiabad area of Baramulla today. Informed sources said that over an information available with Baramulla Police, troops of Rashtriya Rifles 32 Bn and SOG Sopore swooped on a militant hideout at Suyan Saidnar village in Rafiabad area of Baramulla today. According to the tip off, two foreign militants were hiding at the residential house of one Mohiuddin Mir alias Thokar. As troops laid siege to Mir's house and all the inmates came out, the holed up militants opened fire and made an unsuccessful attempt to escape. In retaliation, troops destroyed Mir's house killing both the militants. They were later identified as Abu Veqas and Abu Hamza. Officials claimed that they were Pakistani cadres of Al-Badar Mujahideen. Reports from south Kashmir said that, Kulgam Police, Pulwama Police and CRPF arrested one Mohammad Ashraf Parray alias Illyas alias Fayaz R-o Kashav Shopian in a joint operation at Arra Mohanpora. Officials claimed that he was a top wanted commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. They claimed that Parray had been functioning as Hizb's 'District Commander for Pulwama' since last three years and was also in direct with 'Divisional Commander' Suhail Faisal.
