3 ultras killed in Kupwara

Srinagar: Six CRPF personnel and two civilians were injured in grenade attacks at Sopore on Saturday, while as two militants were killed during a gunfight at Helmatpora in Kupwara. According to sources, suspected militants hurled a grenade towards a picket of 113 Battalion CRPF near State Bank of India, Main Chowk Sopore. One CRPF person and two civilians were injured in the grenade attack. The injured were identified as Constable Nagraj Singh and Bilal Ahmed Sheikh son of Khazir Mohammed of Badami Bagh and Haji Mohammed Yousuf son of Ghulam Ahmed War of Warpora. Another grenade attack at the same place resulted into injuries to five CRPF personnel, sources said. Minutes later, militants hurled another grenade at the same place resulting in injuries to five CRPF personnel identified as Chander Sheikher, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Ashok Singh, Jamal-ud-Din Sheikh and Niresh Kumar. Sources said that condition of two of the injured CRPF jawans was critical. The troopers later launched a manhunt to nab the suspected attackers, but without any success. Three unidentified militants were killed during an overnight fierce gun battle between troopers of 11 Grenadiers and the militants at Helmetpora, Kupwara. Troops of 11 GR Unit cordoned off Helmatpora last night to nab hiding militants there. When the soldiers were sealing the area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons, sources said, adding that the fire was returned and in the fierce clash three unidentified militants were killed. One of the slain militant has been identified as Abu Usama, resident of Pakistan. Two AK rifle, 3 magazines, 85 rounds, 2 grenades and Rs 2080 were recovered from the slain militants.
