Militants Gun Down Two Policemen In Srinagar

Srinagar: Two policemen were shot dead by militants in the city while security forces gunned down a militant in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today, officials said. Constable Ghulam Rasool was shot dead at point-blank range by militants at Sabzi Mandi Soura in the city at around 1.30 pm, they said. Earlier today, unidentified militants shot at Constable Karamjit Singh at Hazratbal chowk here. Singh was critically injured in the attack and was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead, the officials said. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the twin attacks so far. Police and security forces have launched a manhunt in the area, the officials said. In a separate incident in Pulwama district, an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Braripora village in Shopian area in the wee hours today, they said.
