Militants kill student

Srinagar: Militants killed a eleventh class student in presence of large number of people in south Kashmir, whileas four persons, including a retired police employee were arrested in fake currency racket, official sources said today. They said a group of five militants kidnapped Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh during a cricket match at Kulgam in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last afternoon. Militants later took the boy to his village Nowgam Shopian tied his hands and legs and killed him in presence of a large number of people, including women. Later, the militants managed to escape. Meanwhile,four persons including a retired police Head Constable have been arrested and equipment used for counterfeiting currency seized from them in Srinagar and Anantnag districts, officials said today. A team of Rajbagh police station arrested Aijaz Ahmad of Tilikhan Area in Bijbehara here and recovered some fake currency notes from him yesterday, they said. During questioning, he disclosed that he was part of a gang involved in running a fake currency racket after which several places in Anantnag district were raided and three more persons arrested, they said. A computer, a scanner and other equipment as well as Rs 50,000 in fake currency were seized from Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Hassanpora-Salia, retired Head Constable Abdul Razak Mir and Mohammad Abdullah Ganai, they said.
