Hurriyat Yes To Roundtable

New Delhi: The All Party Hurriyat Conference (U), the liberal faction led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, is likely to attend Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's second roundtable conference on Kashmir to be held in Srinagar on May 25. Having boycotted the first roundtable conference in Delhi, the separatist combine is believed to have sent out positive signals about its participation in the meet. The Hurriyat will be sharing a platform with main-line political parties for the first time. Despite a broader agreement among the Hurriyat constituents on attending the meet, the separatist leaders are said to be weighing the possible political fallout of their participation in the post-conference scenario. They want the Hurriyat to remain distinctive from other political parties so that its participation in the meet does not appear to be in conflict with its separatist plank.
