Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service resumes
30 March 2006
Srinagar: Fifty-two passengers on Thursday crossed the 'Aman Sethu' (peace bridge) on the Line of Control (LoC) as the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service resumed operations after a gap of over one month, official sources said here. While 28 passengers crossed over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) at the Kaman post, the last point on the Indian side in Uri sector, 24 passengers arrived from PoK on board the karvan-e-aman (peace caravan). The fortnightly bus service was suspended last month after heavy rains triggered landslides that blocked the road between Aman Sethu and Muzaffarabad at various places. Most passengers who travelled on the 120-km road on Thursday were returning.
