Jammu: The recent killing of two Kashmiri youth among four militants in Gujarat rocked the State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday today, with members from both the treasury and opposition benches asking the government to make a statement bringing the facts before the House. The issue was raised when, immediately after the House assembled for the day, Ghulam Hassan Khan of People's Democratic Party drew the attention of the Speaker towards allegations levelled by people in the Valley that the deceased were not militants and were in fact killed in custody.Mehboob Beg of the National Conference said he has given a notice to the Speaker demanding a statement from the government. 'Everybody knows about the credibility of the Gujarat government,' Beg said, asking the state government to make a statement in the House. 'Nobody in the Valley has a problem in case the deceased youth were militants, but the government must satisfy public concern,' he added. The members took their seats only after Speaker Tara Chand asked the government to look into the matter and make a statement.
