LeT militant killed in Valley

Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was killed in an encounter with troopers in Lolab area of Kupwara while as three Hizbul Mujahideen militants were arrested today. According to sources, troopers of 18 RR after receiving a tip off launched an operation in Lolab this morning. After zeroing in on a militant hideout, sources said, the militant hiding there was offered to surrender. He however, refused the offer and opened fire on troopers which was effectively returned and in the ensuing gun battle one LeT militant identified as Yaqoob Najar of Doda district was killed, sources said adding some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site. In a village in Anantnag, troopers smashed a militant hideout and recovered some arms and ammunition from there. Sources said that security forces recovered seven kgs of explosives, four AK magazines, 111 rounds and a handgrenade from a militant hideout in Kundipora-Mattan in Anantnag. Three militants of Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested from Srinagar, Anantnag and Pulwama districts by police and security forces along with arms and ammunition in separate raids today, sources said.
