Islamabad: National Security Council Secretary Tariq Aziz met his counterpart Satish Kumar Lamba in Dubai last week as part of the Indo-Pak back channel diplomacy. While flying home from London after meeting Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain, Tariq Aziz had a stopover in Dubai where he had a session with Lamba. Another Aziz- Lamba meeting is likely to take place in a foreign country during the current month as part of their continuing discussions on issues confronting the two neighbours, an official told The News. He said that their Dubai session went well and as usual the discussion also focussed on resolution of the Kashmir dispute. The official said that a major outcome of the diplomacy and a plethora of confidence- building measures is that tension has tremendously eased between the two countries and there are no clouds of war hovering over South Asia.
