Three Hizbul Mujahideen Militants Killed

Srinagar: Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed and a shopkeeper injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces busted a militant hideout and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition since last night, a police spokesman said today. Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, Atta Mohammad and Mukhtair, were killed in an encounter with security forces during search operations at Batorgra-Drahman Tanta in Gandoh area of Doda district early today, the spokesman said. He said an AK rifle, a self-loading rifle and three magazines were recovered from the dead militants. Another Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed in a gunfight during search operations at Lubnun-Chowgam in Anantnag district last night. An AK rifle, three magazines and two hand grenades were recovered from him, the spokesman said. He said militants shot at and injured a shopkeeper Junaid Ahmad Shah outside his shop at Jamia Masjid in Shopian area of Pulwama district this afternoon. Police assisted by security forces busted a militant hideout at Gazan Nallah in Charar-e- Sharief area of Badgam district early today, he said. A pistol with three magazines, four AK magazines, a UMG (universal machine gun) magazine, three under barrel grenade launcher shells, six detonators, 250 rounds of assorted ammunition and an IED regulator were recovered from the hideout.
