Three Lashkar Ultras Killed

Jammu: Three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants including a deputy district commander and an area commander were shot dead by security forces in two separate encounters in Poonch district during the past 24 hours. However, an army jawan was also injured.Giving details, sources said that security forces launched searches at Lower Salwah area, four kms north-east of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district this morning. On seeing the security forces, militants opened fire injuring a jawan. The security forces retaliated, killing two militants. The slain militants have been identified Abu Sohali alias M2, deputy district commander and Abu Omar alias R2, Area Commander, both foreigners. The security forces recovered two AK-56 rifles, four magazines and 40 rounds, besides four hand grenades, one radio set (damaged), one radio transistor, one wrist watch, two detonators, one compass and two firing devices. In another operation, the security forces eliminated one militant at Suranthal in Surankot. The encounter followed searches by security forces, sources identified the slain militant as Abdul Umar of LeT.
