Infiltration Bid Foiled In J&K, Ultra Killed23 December 2005 The Times of India
Jammu: Army troops on Friday foiled an infiltration bid and gunned down a militant in border area of Poonch district, a defence spokesman said. Alert troops noticed the movement of about three armed militants sneaking into indian side via kalas-banwat area in Poonch district from across the line of control midnight last night, he said. He said the militants had crossed the LoC and were about 100 meters away from fencing in the area when the encounter took place at 0730 hours and ended three and a half hours later in which an unidentified ultra was gunned down. The recoveries from the slain militant included one AK rifle with its five magazines and 154 rounds, four Chinese grenades, one anti-personnel mine and one radio set. Meanwhile, security forces have launched search operation in the area to track down other two militants of the group, he said.
