Two Militants, Among Four Killed In J&K

Srinagar: Four persons, including two militants and a special police officer (SPO), were killed and six security-men injured in militancy-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. An unidentified militant and SPO Mohammad Yousuf were killed and three security personnel, including a sub-inspector of local police, injured in a gunbattle at Malakhnag in Anantnag district, the spokesman said. The encounter broke out on Monday evening when a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles raided the village to flush out hiding militants. However, the operation was suspended on Monday night and resumed on Tuesday morning which resulted in the killing of the hiding militant. An AK rifle and a magazine were recovered from him, he said. In another gunbattle, the security forces shot dead a Hizbul Mujahideen militant at Charsoo on Srinagar- Jammu national highway on Monday night, the spokesman said, adding a pistol was recovered from him. Police recovered body of one Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, a resident of Kulgam missing since last one month, from Ari Gunthnu forest in Anantnag district on Tuesday, he said... Three security personnel were injured when militants hurled a grenade on a patrol party of BSF at Krankshivan in Sopore area of Baramulla district on Tuesday night, he said, adding militants abducted one Mukhtar Ahmad Ahanger from his house at Doniwari-Chadoora in Badgam district on Monday night. Security forces arrested a militant from Zinihal-Banihal area of Doda district and recovered a pistol and two AK magazines at his instance, the spokesman added.
