Three ultras killed in J&K

Srinagar: Three militant were killed, two arrested and a hideout busted in separate operations by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir today, a defence spokesman said. Two unidentified ultras were killed in an encounter during ongoing search operation at Panzgam village in Kokernag area of Anantnag this evening, the spokesman said. He said a locally-trained militant of Hizbul Mujahideen identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Tak alias Khubeb was killed in an encounter with Rashtriya Rifles at Bainmul in Kulgam area of south Kashmir's Anantnag today. He said the encounter broke out when the troops launched a search and destroy operation in the village following specific information about presence of ultras. A Chinese pistol, its one magazine with five rounds and five hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the slain militant. Troops of 49 Rashtriya Rifles arrested a militant of HuM alongwith two Chinese grenades and 48 rounds of AK ammunition from Wanpura village of Qazigund, 80 kms from here, he said. The spokesman said troops busted a militant hideout in Darabaihk in Anantnag and the recoveries from it included 16 blankets, one utensil and one bed sheet. An official spokesman said security forces apprehended a suspected militant during search operations at Markote in Handwara area of North Kashmir's Kupwara district today. The arrest was made in connection with the recovery of a wireless set and 20 AK rounds from the village, he said. In another operation, police recovered 15 packets of explosives and three batteries from the forest of Kalaban Kotli in Manjakote area of Rajouri last night, the spokesman said.
