Srinagar: The Opposition National Conference today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement that the Centre was considering granting autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir has 'vindicated' the party's stand. 'The Prime Minister's statement regarding the autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir is a vindication of the stand of the National Conference and the vision of its founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah,' NC President Omar Abdullah said addressing a gathering here today. He said that Sheikh Abdullah had given a roadmap for the resolution of the Kashmir imbroglio that is now being given practical shape. 'This by itself is a tribute to the great Sheikh, his vision, his leadership, his perception and his understanding of the psyche of the people of the state,' Omar said. The NC President said his party is proud of the fact that it has been steadfastly pursuing the agenda of the Sheikh, understanding very well that his agenda is the agenda for the forward movement of the people of Kashmir and their welfare. However, the NC chief cautioned the Centre about solutions to Kashmir issue emerging from Islamabad and urged the Centre to come out with a final solution to the issue. 'We urge the Union government that the final solution to the Kashmir imbroglio should emerge from New Delhi in tandem with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir who have suffered in the last couple of years,' Omar said.
