3 Of A Surrendered Ultra's Family Among 4 Killed

Jammu: Four civilians including three members of a surrendered militant's family were killed by the militants at village Hasot in Chasana area of Mahore in Reasi police district on Friday night. The victims included a six day old baby. SSP Reasi J L Sharma said a group of militants entered into the house of a surrendered militant Shabir Hussain at Hasot late Friday night and opened indiscriminate firing on the house inmates. While Shabir Hussain was not present in the house, his three family members were killed in the firing. The deceased have been identified as Shabir Hussain's mother Mushamad Guggi, second wife Shamshad Begum and six day old daughter, who hadn't been named as yet. Shabir Hussain was putting up in another house, official sources said, adding the militants set the house on fire after the killings and escaped. Prior to striking in the house of Shabir Hussain, the same group of militants killed another civilian Mir Hussain in the same village. Dubbing Mir Hussain as 'informer of security forces', the militants beat him up with rifle butts and inflicted cuts with blades. The civilian died due to acute blood loss, the sources said. A police and security forces team rushed to Hasot early yesterday morning and launched a search operation for the militants. However, they remained untraced. The search operations were going on. Police have handed over bodies of the civilians to their family members after post-mortem. In a separate search operation in Reasi police district, police and Village Defence Committee (VDC) members busted a hideout of the militants at Thuroo Bassa in Arnas area. One .303 rifle, 30 rounds, one jacket and a bag were recovered from the hideout. Security forces recovered two kg RDX, 350 AK rounds, 22 Pika rounds, 22 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades, one binocular, four grenades and one mortar bomb from a terrorist hideout at Banitop in Rajouri district yesterday, the sources said, adding no arrests were made. Five UBGL grenades and two hand grenades were recovered from a terrorist hideout at Marhote in Poonch district last night. The grenades had been dumped in a small natural cave. In another incident, the terrorists set ablaze the shop of one Mohd Sharief son of Abdul Latief at Ramsu in Doda district.
