Srinagar: A newly elected councillor was among two persons killed in militancy- related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Militants shot dead Fayaz Ahmad Mahjoo, a newly elected independent councillor to the Baramulla Municipal Council, oustide his residence in old Baramulla town. Meanwhile, one of the injured in a grenade blast at city chowk Rajouri yesterday, Parvesh Kumar succumbed to injuries at a Jammu hospital, an official spokesman said. In a related development, The security forces also busted several hideouts recovering huge cache of arms and ammunition, the spokesman said . With this the death toll in the incident has gone up to two. Security forces busted a hideout at Drubehal village in Dooru area of Anantnag district last evening and recovered two AK magazines, 55 rounds, four detonators, three audio cassettes of militants' speeches. A four-kg IED and three kgs of RDX were seized from a hideout busted by security forces at Kudwan Basantgarh in Udhampur district. An AK magazine, some spare parts of AK rifle and ammunition were also recovered from the site, he said.
